Kay Koplovitz
KAY KOPLOVITZ, Chairman of Joy Berry Enterprises, is the founder of USA Network and the first woman network president in television history. A pioneer in cable television networks and new media ventures, she is a visionary woman who led the emergence of cable television to challenge the broadcast networks for coveted audiences. She continues to be a leader in raising venture capital for women entrepreneurs and in launching new programming companies that challenge the frontiers of the digital age. She is the author of, Bold Women, Big Ideas (May ’02), which she wrote to inform and inspire women entrepreneurs to create wealth through equity. Ms. Koplovitz speaks on subjects ranging from media and the digital revolution to venture and private equity and corporate governance.
Among her recent accomplishments, Ms. Koplovitz co-created Springboard Enterprises, a national organization that fosters venture capital investments in women-led high-growth companies. Since its inception, Springboard has presented over 380 companies that have raised $4 billion in new capital. She also co-founded Boldcap Ventures, a venture capital fund backed exclusively by leading women executives. Boldcap invests principally in early- to mid- stage companies in the media, technology, and healthcare sectors. Ms. Koplovitz counts among her accomplishments the Presidential appointment as Chair of National Women’s Business Council (1998-2001). She is the recipient of numerous awards and inductions for her leadership accomplishments in the areas of media and entrepreneurship.

USA Networks, Founder, Chairman and CEO:
Kay Koplovitz served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from USA’s premiere in 1977 as an all-sports service (Madison Square Garden Sports), until stepping down in 1998. During her tenure, she built USA into the #1 ranking in primetime viewership among cable networks, for 13 consecutive years at the helm. Under Koplovitz’s direction, USA launched the SCI FI Channel in 1992, which has become one of the industry’s top ranked networks in viewership according to Nielson and is distributed to over 200 million households worldwide. In April 1994, she launched USA Networks International, which now operates in countries around the world. The Company was sold in 1998 for $4.5 Billion and became a publicly listed company.
Ms. Koplovitz presently serves as Chairman of the Board, Liz Claiborne Inc. a $5 Billion company that designs and markets an extensive range of women’s and men’s fashion apparel and accessories across 38 brands in domestic and international markets; and CA, the world’s leading independent IT management software company. She has previously served on the boards of Instinet, Oracle, Nabisco, General Re, and Sun New Media. She serves as trustee of The Paley Center for Media and The International Tennis Hall of Fame. She holds a master’s degree in communications from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin as well as honorary doctorate degrees from Emerson College, St. John’s University, and Michigan State University. A native of Milwaukee, Ms. Koplovitz is married to private investor William C. Koplovitz, Jr.
John White
JOHN WHITE, founder of Joy Berry Enterprises (JBE) with John Bellaud, serves as Senior Vice President of Business and Product Development. He has played an integral role in building relationships and negotiating contracts with JBE’s production and manufacturing partners, Quebecor World, Continental Sales, Inc., and National Book Network, and has built the company’s business strategy and financial plans. He fosters new business growth strategies and partnerships and oversees the company’s music creation and future product development.
An innovative executive and producer, Mr. White has been immersed in the entertainment industry for 15 years, specializing in music production, sound design, and composition. He is the founder and president of Midtown Sound Studios, one of New York’s top music production facilities, and is Creative Director of WhiteWater Productions, an independent music publishing and production company. Mr. White’s experience, training and expertise have always allowed him to bridge the gap between creative and management across a number of projects.
In 2002, Mr. White was responsible for the acquisition and renovation of Midtown Sound’s multi-room, multimedia production facility where he has amassed a sizeable clientele and discography. His most recent accomplishment was Midtown Sound’s collaboration on the production of Miles From India, with multi Grammy Award-winning producer Bob Belden. This groundbreaking album features compositions by jazz legend Miles Davis, recreated and played by an all-star lineup of the world’s best jazz and ethnic musicians. Miles From India has spent several months on Billboard’s Top 10 on both the Jazz and World charts in 2008 and was nominated for a 2009 Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary Jazz album.
Mr. White has produced and engineered a long list of albums, television and radio commercials, and film scores for high-profile clients, among them platinum-selling music artists Lil’ Kim, DJ Logic, Shawn Pelton, and Steve Vai. Mr. White has produced for and performed with Chick Corea, Ron Carter, John McLaughlin, James Moody, Jane Monheit, Bob Parsons Big Band, Richard Gere, Whoopi Goldberg, Goldie Hawn, and The New Jersey Opera. Other credits include serving as chief engineer to legendary R&B music producer Channel 7 (formerly 7 Aurelius, who himself has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, Ja Rule, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot). John White has also been music supervisor on the film Brooklyn Lobster, starring Danny Aiello and Jane Curtin. Other films featuring scores and songs written by Mr. White have been screened at The Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Festival de Cannes, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
Mr. White’s corporate clients include Starbucks, Macy’s, American Express, Hewlett Packard, The Blue Man Group, The City of New York, Orkin, and Benihana. His recordings and compositions have appeared on HBO, A&E, The History Channel, PBS, and Nickelodeon, and on Sony, BMG, Blue Note, and Columbia Records.
Mr. White holds degrees from New York University (NYU) and The New School in Music and Recording Arts. A frequent lecturer at NYU on digital recording and production, Mr. White has taught for The New School, Future Media Concepts, and DigiDesign, the world’s largest recording hardware and software provider and premier music production platform.
An accomplished classical vocalist and jazz saxophonist, he has traveled across the U.S., performing lead roles in operas and musicals such as Tosca, Chérubin, The Marriage of Figaro, West Side Story, Annie Get Your Gun, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Sound of Music, 42nd Street, and most recently, stariing in the title role in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring in Tampa, Florida. Mr. White’s first full-length solo album, Simple Vow is available CD and iTunes and features original compositions, arrangements, and his own production.
A native of New York, Mr. White resides in Manhattan with his wife Billie Tuttle-White, who is in women’s retail clothing design.
John Bellaud
JOHN BELLAUD, founder of Joy Berry Enterprises with John White, is the company’s Senior Vice President of Interactive and Marketing. He has played a key role in redefining the overall brand and identity of the company and its various product lines. He has overseen the design, pre-press, and manufacturing of the products as well as the build-out of the company’s e-Commerce storefront.
Mr. Bellaud, a seasoned creative director who has led marketing and interactive campaigns for some of the world’s most recognized brands, and has served nearly every role in interactive media development. After beginning his career in traditional advertising, Mr. Bellaud moved to interactive and web development in 1993. His responsibilities included directing the marketing and advertising campaigns for a number of start-ups, which he helped to grow into thriving companies. In 1996 Mr. Bellaud founded Good Spider, a forefront web company that served a number of clients including Sketchers and the United States Postal Service. Having successfully sold Good Spider, Mr. Bellaud stayed in emerging technologies by joining Solid Interactive, a new media agency specializing in viral media and animated content.
The founder and owner of Bang-On! Productions, a new media and advertising agency in New York City, Mr. Bellaud has played an integral role in defining viral media by developing groundbreaking initiatives while forging strong client relationships. By creating fresh and compelling digital media for ESPN, Delta, Mars, Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Meyers, and other brands, Mr. Bellaud established himself as a leader in his field by achieving record-breaking statistics, in email marketing campaigns and driving site traffic, Mr. Bellaud’s varied skill set and creative thinking have proven him to be an expert in nearly every form of digital media and marketing. Some of Mr. Bellaud’s most recent accomplishments include brand-building work for Hewlett-Packard and Toshiba. He created animated studies and episodes for HP’s Printing and imaging Divisions putting reps directly inside the world of their customers and connecting them to their end users. He was responsible for elevating the brand and profile of Toshiba’s premier 3D partner and their “Glasses-free” technology, enabling a 3D web experience inside of a 2D environment. Mr. Bellaud has also worked with start-up and emerging growth companies to develop their marketing and web campaigns.
As president of Bang-On! Productions, Mr. Bellaud provides creative and engaging marketing concepts across a broad spectrum of media, such as interactive, print, television, and radio. His diversified clientele has included ESPN, Heineken, Delta, and AOL. Opened in December 2001 on the tail end of the dot-com era, Bang-On! quickly moved to the forefront of new media and technology marketing by offering creative and development services through strategic partnerships with larger agencies. Working with some of the top agencies in the world, Bang-On! and its partners have had the ability to provide support and engaging media directly to end clients.
John Bellaud lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife, Maya Kalman, and their two-year-old daughter, Zara.
